Woman Rescued Alive After Jumping from Phuket’s Sarasin Bridge

A Thai woman was rescued after spending several hours at sea following an apparent jump from Phuket’s Sarasin Bridge early on June 18.

Police from Thachatchai Police Station were alerted after a black Honda was found abandoned on the bridge. Witnesses told officers that the driver parked the vehicle before entering the water at around 3:30 a.m.

Emergency personnel from the Kusol Dham Phuket Foundation, together with other rescue teams, immediately launched a large-scale search operation. Investigators later identified the vehicle’s owner as 37-year-old Kanlayanee from Phatthalung Province.

The search continued for several hours before rescuers located the woman approximately seven to eight kilometers offshore. According to officials, she was found alive floating in waters more than 37 meters deep.

Rescue teams safely brought her ashore at Pak Phra Beach in Thalang District before transporting her to a local hospital for medical treatment and further evaluation.

Police said the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation. Officers plan to interview the woman once her condition has stabilized to determine what led to the incident.
