Police in Phuket have arrested a 36-year-old foreign national on suspicion of possessing cocaine for sale.

According to a statement by Choeng Thale Police, the suspect was identified as a Nigerian citizen. Officers seized 7.3 grammes of cocaine along with packaging materials and other items during the operation.

The suspect faces a charge of illegal possession of a Category 2 narcotic — cocaine — with intent to sell.

The seized items included:

  • 7.3 grammes of cocaine

  • 257 plastic bags

  • Two electronic scales

  • Two mobile phones

  • One passenger car

The operation was carried out by investigators from Choeng Thale Police Station under the authority of station chief Police Colonel Ekkarat Plaiduang. The arrest team was led by Captain Atithep Kaeupraset.

However, the police statement provided no details about the circumstances of the arrest. It did not explain how investigators identified the suspect or what led them to him. Authorities also did not disclose his name or provide information about his visa or immigration status.

The exact location of the arrest has not been made public. Choeng Thale Police are responsible for the area around Bang Tao Beach, including Boat Avenue, beach clubs and the Laguna complex, but the available information does not establish where the suspect was detained.

The case is not the first involving a Nigerian national suspected of cocaine distribution in Phuket or elsewhere in Thailand. Further details about the investigation have not been released.
