Two Myanmar Nationals Arrested in Connection with Phuket Murder Case

Police in Phuket have arrested two Myanmar nationals accused of murdering a fellow citizen in a case that was solved less than a week after the victim's body was discovered.

The investigation began on June 4, when officers were called to an area near an abandoned hotel and spa in Thalang, where the body of a 51-year-old Myanmar man, identified as Ye Min Kyaw, was found.

According to police, the victim had suffered multiple stab wounds. Investigators also recovered a knife sheath at the scene, while the victim’s motorcycle and passport were located nearby.

Following the discovery, officers from Cherng Talay Police Station launched an intensive investigation. Detectives reviewed CCTV footage from surrounding areas, analyzed possible escape routes, and interviewed witnesses to establish the sequence of events.

Evidence gathered during the investigation led authorities to identify two suspects: Mr. Thein Myint, also known as Jack, and Mr. Kyaw Khaing, also known as Chid Min. Both men are Myanmar nationals and are accused of acting together in the killing.

On June 9, the Phuket Provincial Court approved arrest warrants for the two suspects on charges of jointly committing murder.

A day later, on June 10, police tracked the suspects to Phunphin district in Surat Thani province, where they were successfully apprehended during a coordinated operation.

The two men were subsequently transferred back to Phuket and handed over to investigators for further legal proceedings.

Police have not yet disclosed a possible motive for the crime, and the investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue gathering evidence ahead of prosecution.
