Turkish Tourist Found Dead in Phuket Home as Police Rule Out Foul Play

A 30-year-old Turkish tourist was found dead inside a residence in Kamala, Phuket, on May 26, while police reported no immediate evidence of assault or foul play. Investigators also discovered cannabis and drug-related items inside the room.

Officers from Kamala Police Station responded to reports from rescue workers at approximately 3:30 p.m. and arrived at a three-storey property in Kamala subdistrict, Kathu district. The man’s body was located near the bedroom entrance on the third floor of the house.

According to police, the deceased showed no visible injuries or signs of a struggle. Investigators found traces of bodily fluids on his face, while vomit was discovered in the bathroom nearby.

A Turkish friend who was staying at the same residence told officers he had last seen the man alive around 3 a.m. He said the tourist had been coughing, vomiting, and complaining of back pain throughout the night.

The friend also stated that the deceased regularly used cannabis together with medication to relieve his symptoms and had reportedly consumed both before going to sleep.

The two men later slept in separate rooms. When the friend woke at around 3 p.m., he found the tourist unconscious and immediately contacted rescue personnel.

Police search of the room uncovered cannabis, smoking equipment, and evidence suggesting recent consumption. Authorities added that there were no indications of forced entry, theft, or any physical confrontation inside the property.

Forensic specialists from Vachira Phuket Hospital carried out an initial examination at the scene. The body was later transferred to Patong Hospital for a detailed autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

Kamala Police are now working with the Turkish Embassy to inform the man’s relatives and coordinate funeral arrangements and legal procedures.
