Tourists Spark Outrage After Indecent Tuk Tuk Stunt in Phuket

A group of foreign tourists in Phuket has come under fire after engaging in inappropriate behavior while riding a tuk tuk in the busy Patong area.

Photos shared online on April 27 showed several individuals standing inside the moving vehicle, turning toward traffic behind them and exposing themselves. The images quickly spread across social media, prompting criticism from both locals and online users.

The identities and nationalities of those involved have not been confirmed, and the original source of the photos remains unclear. However, the incident has reignited debate over tourist conduct and law enforcement on the island.

Under Thai law, such behavior falls under public indecency. According to Section 388 of the Criminal Code, offenders may face a fine of up to 5,000 baht.

This is not the first time similar incidents have been reported in Phuket. Earlier this year, a French couple was deported and blacklisted after a viral video showed them engaging in explicit behavior during a tuk tuk ride. They were also fined for violating public decency laws.

Other cases have surfaced in the past, including footage shared by tuk tuk drivers showing passengers ignoring repeated warnings and behaving inappropriately during rides. In many instances, no legal consequences followed—either because no formal complaints were filed or because the individuals left the country before authorities could take action.

The latest episode has led to renewed calls for stricter enforcement and better control over tourist behavior, especially in high-traffic areas like Patong.
