Three Indian Tourists Die After Suspected Drug Overdose at Phuket Nightclub

Three Indian nationals died after losing consciousness at a popular nightclub in Phuket, with police confirming that narcotic substances were detected in the victims’ systems.

According to reports from Kamala Police, the incident took place during the early hours of May 9 at Cafe del Mar in Kamala. Officers received an emergency call at approximately 2:06 a.m. regarding four foreign tourists who had collapsed inside the venue.

Emergency responders transported three men to Patong Hospital, while another was taken to Thalang Hospital. A fifth member of the group did not require hospitalization. Doctors managed to save only one of the four hospitalized tourists.

Investigators said the group of five Indian tourists arrived at the club at around 11:00 p.m. on May 8. Police stated that the men began losing consciousness shortly before 2:00 a.m. Authorities have not yet determined whether the drugs were consumed before entering the nightclub or inside the venue itself.

Local media identified the tourists as Kushagra Agarwal, Rahul Agrawal, Rahul Agrawal, Aman Agarwal, and Aryan Verma. Police confirmed that two men in the group reportedly had identical names. Aryan Verma was the only member of the group who did not require medical treatment.

Kamala Police Chief Colonel Anurak Prinyasathirakun said that traces of narcotics were found in the blood of all four hospitalized tourists. Investigators believe a drug overdose may have been involved, although the exact substances and quantities have not yet been identified.

Authorities are currently awaiting detailed medical and toxicology reports to determine the precise cause of death. Police have also informed the Embassy of India in Thailand about the incident.

So far, officials have not released a formal public statement, while media coverage of the case has varied, with some reports incorrectly stating that only one tourist had died.
