Teen Suspect Arrested in Series of Break-Ins in Phuket’s Wichit Area

Police in Phuket have detained a 19-year-old man believed to be behind a string of attempted break-ins targeting local businesses in the Wichit area.

According to officers from Wichit Police Station, the suspect was apprehended on April 29 following an investigation launched after a complaint filed on April 17. The case stemmed from an attempted burglary at a restaurant located near Muang Thong on Sakdidet Road.

CCTV footage captured a single individual entering the premises late at night and searching through items inside. However, the noise alerted the restaurant owner, who came out to check the situation, forcing the intruder to flee without stealing anything.

Police later identified the suspect as 19-year-old Manas, a resident of Chalong. He was taken in for questioning before being formally charged with attempted theft at night involving the use of a vehicle.

Authorities noted that the arrest comes amid multiple reports of similar incidents in the area. Investigators are now working to determine whether the suspect may be connected to other burglary cases.
