Authorities in Phuket swiftly responded to a fire that broke out on a speedboat at Ao Makham’s deep-sea port late Monday morning, preventing it from spreading to nearby vessels.

According to local officials, the Phuket Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office received an emergency alert at around 10:50 a.m. on April 6 reporting that a speedboat had caught fire at the busy port.

Emergency responders from Wichit Municipality, the Phuket Provincial Administrative Organization, and other local units were immediately dispatched to the scene. Thanks to their rapid intervention, firefighters were able to contain the blaze before it escalated or affected surrounding boats.

Medical teams from the Kusoldharm Foundation provided on-site assistance to those affected. Five people were reported injured and were promptly transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire and are working on additional safety measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The situation highlights the effectiveness of coordinated emergency response efforts in protecting Phuket’s maritime operations and its vital tourism infrastructure.
