Phuket Seeks Stronger Cooperation with Singapore in Tourism and Investment
Phuket is looking to expand its cooperation with Singapore across tourism, trade, investment and urban development as the province seeks to strengthen its position as an international destination.

The opportunities were discussed during a meeting between Phuket Governor Chodnarin Koedsom and Singaporean Ambassador to Thailand Catherine Wong Siow Ping at Phuket Provincial Hall on November 5.
The talks covered tourism development, urban planning and disaster preparedness. Governor Chodnarin expressed interest in Singapore’s experience in city management, noting its potential value for Phuket’s future development.
He also outlined the province’s emergency response arrangements for flooding, flash floods and landslides. These include coordinated operations and public warning systems designed to protect both residents and visitors.
Tourism links between the two destinations were another key topic. Phuket currently receives approximately five to eight direct flights from Singapore each day. Both sides discussed opportunities to develop marine and cruise tourism further.
The governor also encouraged Singaporean investors to explore opportunities in wellness and medical tourism, identifying these as sectors with considerable growth potential for Phuket.

Cultural and educational exchanges were also included in the discussions, with both sides considering ways to strengthen ties between Phuket and Singapore.
Governor Chodnarin asked the Singaporean Embassy to help share information about Phuket’s safety measures with travellers. The initiative is intended to strengthen visitor confidence and support the province’s long-term tourism development.
