Russian Man Found Dead in Phuket Condo as Police Investigate Cause

A Russian man was found dead inside his condominium room in Kathu district, Phuket, on August 30. Police are investigating the circumstances and cause of his death.

Officers from Kathu Police Station received a report concerning the death of Russian national Maksim Tarasov at around 9pm on August 30.

According to Amarin TV, Tarasov was found lying face down beside the bed in room 24/89. Police found no apparent signs of a struggle or other unusual circumstances inside the room. His personal belongings and valuables were also found intact.

A forensic doctor from Vachira Phuket Hospital examined the scene and determined that Tarasov had likely been dead for at least three days before he was discovered. His body was subsequently transferred to the hospital for a detailed autopsy, which is expected to help establish the cause of death.

Police said they would contact the Russian Embassy to notify Tarasov’s relatives and coordinate arrangements for religious rites in accordance with tradition.

The incident follows several other cases involving foreign nationals found dead in Phuket. On August 17, a Chinese tourist was found unresponsive in a hotel swimming pool. Family members and rescuers performed CPR but were unable to revive him.

Earlier this month, a British national was found dead inside a hotel room in the Patong area. Police reported no signs of a struggle, while the cause of death remained under investigation.

In May, an Australian man was found dead on the floor of a Phuket condominium. Officers discovered white powder at the scene and collected it for testing. No cause of death was reported in that case.
