A Russian national has died following a road accident that occurred overnight in the Cherng Talay area of Phuket.

According to reports, the crash took place around 3:40am near Boat Avenue. Emergency responders transported the injured man to Thalang Hospital, where doctors attempted to save his life. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at 8:18am.

Police at Thalang Station were officially notified of the death later that morning, at approximately 8:50am, after receiving information from the hospital.

Authorities have not disclosed the exact circumstances of the crash, and the victim’s identity has not been publicly confirmed in official statements.

However, reports indicate that the deceased was a Russian man born in 1996, originally from the Novosibirsk region.

The available police report was compiled by Thalang officers based on the notification of death rather than details from the crash scene itself, which falls under the jurisdiction of Cherng Talay police.

Road safety concerns

As of March 26, data from the Thai Road Safety Center (ThaiRSC) recorded 44 fatalities from road accidents in Phuket since the beginning of the year.

One death was added on March 25, with three additional fatalities recorded on March 26. However, the Russian man’s case does not appear to be included in those figures, as all three incidents listed for that day occurred in Mueang Phuket district.

The case highlights ongoing concerns about road safety on the island, particularly during late-night hours.
