Princess Sirindhorn Visits Phuket to Open New School Building

Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn paid an official one-day visit to Phuket on June 1, where she presided over the opening of a newly completed building at Srinagarindra the Princess Mother School in Saphan Hin.

The new facility was formally named the Sri Sirindhorn Building and was placed under royal patronage. Upon her arrival, Her Royal Highness was welcomed by Phuket Governor Nirat Pongsitthavorn, school director Natthayaphon Sewatanon, senior provincial officials, military and police representatives, as well as large crowds of local residents gathered to greet her.

As part of the visit, Princess Sirindhorn laid a wreath at the monument dedicated to Princess Mother Srinagarindra, paying tribute to her legacy. She then proceeded to the newly inaugurated building, where members of the school administration and advisory board presented floral offerings in her honor.

During the ceremony, Her Royal Highness received charitable donations collected in Phuket for various social projects, along with a commemorative publication detailing the history of Srinagarindra the Princess Mother School.

Princess Sirindhorn also presented commemorative gifts to 150 donors and benefactors who have supported the institution over the years.

The official opening ceremony included the unveiling of a commemorative plaque and the planting of a Sirindhorn Champi tree. Following the ceremony, the Princess toured an academic exhibition showcasing interdisciplinary student projects across eight educational fields.

At the foreign languages exhibition, Her Royal Highness personally wrote Princess Sirindhorn’s Chinese name as part of the display.

Before concluding her visit, the Princess signed the school’s guest book, attended a performance by the school choir, and met with representatives from Yaowawit School and Phuket Technical College.
