Phuket United FC Wraps Up Promising Debut Season with Young Squad

Phuket United FC, a newly formed football club built largely around players under the age of 21, has completed its debut campaign in the Thai Semi-Pro League. Due to the small number of teams competing in the Southern Division, the club played a total of six matches during the season — three at home and three away.

The team finished fifth in the standings, collecting five points from one victory, two draws, and three defeats. While the final position may seem modest, the club's performances throughout the season provided plenty of reasons for optimism.

Despite facing opponents with greater experience and older squads, Phuket United consistently delivered competitive and attractive football. On several occasions, the young side came close to securing additional victories and demonstrated a level of play that exceeded expectations for a first-year team.

One of the most encouraging aspects of the campaign was the emergence of local youth talent. The team even featured goals scored by players as young as 15 years old, highlighting the club’s focus on long-term development rather than short-term results.

Notably, Phuket United remained unbeaten in home matches throughout the season. Their first home fixture ended in a dramatic 2-2 draw after conceding an equalizer deep into stoppage time. The second home game saw the club earn a respectable 1-1 draw against the division leaders. In their final home appearance, Phuket United came from behind to defeat Rusa Horsley from Phang Nga Province 2-1 despite difficult weather conditions and heavy rain.

The club has not yet officially announced its plans for the next season. However, its closing message to supporters suggested a strong commitment to continuing the project and developing football on the island.

In a statement, Phuket United thanked fans for their support and emphasized its mission of creating opportunities for young players. The club said its goal is to help the next generation grow not only as footballers but also as professionals and responsible individuals both on and off the field.

The statement acknowledged that challenges and setbacks are inevitable but stressed that meaningful progress begins with providing young athletes the right environment and positive role models.
