Phuket Tourism Recovers as Weather Improves, but Rain Risks Remain
Tourism activity on Phuket is gradually returning to normal as weather conditions improve following recent heavy rainfall. However, the risk of thunderstorms and renewed flooding remains, prompting authorities to continue monitoring vulnerable areas.

On October 31, clearer skies and occasional sunshine brought Thai and international visitors back to Patong Beach in Kathu district. Tourists were seen relaxing along the shore and enjoying water activities, restoring a more vibrant atmosphere to one of Phuket’s main tourist destinations.
Temperatures were forecast to reach around 32°C. Despite the brighter conditions, the Thai Meteorological Department warned that thunderstorms could affect 60% of the southern west coast, including Phuket, with evening rain a particular concern.
Flood recovery work continues
Floodwater levels have returned to normal in several parts of the island, but recovery efforts are continuing in Patong and Kamala in Kathu district.
Authorities are clearing mud and debris from roads and residential areas while inspecting drainage systems. The work aims to help residents return to their usual routines and allow local businesses to resume normal operations as quickly as possible.

Authorities remain alert to further flooding
Despite the improvement in weather and the return of tourists to popular beaches, officials are continuing to monitor hillside areas, locations vulnerable to landslides and low-lying communities.
Further heavy rainfall could trigger additional flooding or disrupt transport and daily activities in these areas.
Residents, business operators and tourists are advised to follow official weather updates, take precautions when participating in water activities and comply with safety instructions issued by local authorities.
