Phuket Teen Hailed as Hero After Saving Foreign Man with CPR

A teenager in Phuket has received widespread praise after helping save a foreign man who collapsed on a roadside in Kathu district on the evening of May 7.

Photos and videos shared by Thai media and local Facebook pages showed the young man performing CPR on an unconscious foreigner lying on the road with a visible head injury.

According to DailyNews, the incident happened outside a beverage stall, where the foreign man reportedly suddenly collapsed and struck his head on the pavement, causing a bleeding wound.

The teenager, identified as Jojo, works part-time at a nearby grilled pork stall after school. Witnessing the incident, he immediately rushed to assist and began performing CPR on the injured man.

Jojo continued the resuscitation efforts until the foreigner regained consciousness. Bystanders then contacted emergency services for additional medical assistance.

Rescue workers later arrived at the scene, provided first aid treatment for the head injury, and transported the man to a hospital. Authorities have not yet released further details regarding his condition or the cause of the collapse.

Jojo, who studies at Kathu School, has drawn admiration both online and within the local community. Many praised not only his quick reaction and courage but also his dedication to balancing education with part-time work to support himself.

The incident became another widely discussed example of young people in Thailand stepping in to help others during emergencies.

In previous cases, a 12-year-old boy in Bangkok was praised after rescuing a teenage girl from the Chao Phraya River during a suicide attempt in 2024. Another young boy in Phetchabun received recognition in 2025 after swimming through floodwaters to seek help for stranded friends during severe flooding.
