Phuket School Holds Active Threat Safety Drill for Primary Students

Primary school students at Kajonkiet Thalang School in Phuket took part in a safety training exercise focused on emergency response procedures, including how to react if an armed attacker enters the school.

The exercise was organized by the school, with support from officers of the Cherng Talay Police Station, who also shared information about the event on social media.

According to the school, the training was designed to help students understand the basic steps they should take during life-threatening emergencies and to teach them how to respond in the safest possible way. Road safety was also included as part of the educational program.

The session followed the internationally recognized "Run. Hide. Fight." protocol, which provides guidance for responding to active attacker situations. Students were also introduced to the safety message "Stay Alert. Stay Safe."

Kajonkiet Thalang School thanked the participating police officers for conducting both the classroom instruction and practical exercises.

"Knowledge, preparedness, and awareness help our students stay safe, make informed decisions, and become responsible members of society," the school said in a statement.

Attention to school security in Thailand has increased significantly since the 2022 tragedy in Nong Bua Lamphu Province, where a former police officer carried out a deadly attack at a childcare center using both firearms and a knife. The incident claimed the lives of 36 people, including 24 young children, before the attacker later died.
