Phuket Police Seize One Kilogram of Crystal Meth Hidden in Vehicle Ceiling

Police in Phuket have uncovered a significant drug trafficking operation after discovering one kilogram of crystal methamphetamine concealed inside the roof of a vehicle during an inspection at the Tha Chatchai checkpoint in Thalang.

The breakthrough came after officers stopped a Surat Thani-registered vehicle at the checkpoint on Monday, June 22. During the initial search, authorities seized 2,900 methamphetamine pills and launched an investigation into a suspected drug distribution network.

As the investigation progressed, police arrested another suspect in Thalang on the same day, believing the individual was connected to the case. The new information prompted investigators to carry out a more detailed examination of the vehicle involved in the original arrest.

During the second inspection, officers uncovered approximately one kilogram of crystal methamphetamine hidden inside the vehicle's ceiling. The narcotics were confiscated as evidence, and the suspect was taken into custody.

Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing as officers work to identify and apprehend other individuals believed to be involved in the trafficking operation. Legal proceedings against those arrested are now underway.
