Phuket Police Arrest Suspect Linked to Luxury Villa Burglaries in Rawai

Police in Phuket have arrested a 34-year-old suspect accused of breaking into a luxury villa in Rawai and stealing cash and valuables before fleeing the scene.

According to Chalong Police, the incident was reported on May 12 after a foreign resident staying at a villa within the Selina Serenity Hotel complex discovered that an intruder had entered the property during the night.

The suspect allegedly escaped with cash, jewelry, and other valuable belongings.

Investigators immediately launched an operation to track down the offender. Officers reviewed CCTV footage, analyzed possible escape routes, and monitored individuals believed to be connected to the crime.

The investigation eventually led to the Phuket Provincial Court issuing an arrest warrant for a man identified as Mr. Banphot, who was wanted on charges of nighttime burglary inside a residential property.

Police said the suspect frequently changed locations and had no permanent address, making the search more difficult. Detectives later discovered that he was hiding in a rented room in Karon.

On May 26, officers carried out the arrest operation and took the suspect into custody.

During questioning, the man reportedly confessed to the burglary in Rawai and admitted that he had sold the stolen valuables in Nonthaburi province.

Authorities transferred the suspect to Chalong Police Station to face legal proceedings.

Further investigation also revealed that the man may have been involved in several similar burglaries in the Rawai and Wichit areas. Police believe the stolen items from multiple cases were sold to buyers in Nonthaburi.

Investigators are now working to identify additional suspects connected to the resale of stolen property and expand the case further.
