Phuket Police Arrest Krabi Man with Gun and Meth at Island Checkpoint

Police at Phuket’s Tha Chatchai checkpoint arrested a 28-year-old man from Krabi during a late-night operation targeting drugs and illegal weapons on May 27.

According to Tha Chatchai Police, officers stopped and searched the suspect during routine inspections at the checkpoint, where they discovered narcotics and an unregistered firearm hidden in his possession.

Authorities seized 128 methamphetamine pills, 0.895 grams of crystal methamphetamine, a .22 caliber semi-automatic handgun, five rounds of ammunition, a magazine, a black leather holster, and a mobile phone.

The suspect was taken into custody at the scene and informed of the charges against him, which include illegal possession of Category 1 narcotics as well as unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Police later transferred both the suspect and the confiscated items to Tha Chatchai Police Station for further legal action.

Officials stated that intensified checkpoint operations remain part of Phuket’s broader campaign against drug trafficking and illegal weapons, especially at major entry routes onto the island.
