Officials from the Phuket special operations unit of Thailand’s Department of Provincial Administration (DOPA) arrested a suspected drug dealer and seized several types of illegal substances during a raid near Rama IX Park, also known as Suan Luang, in Phuket Town on October 13.

The operation followed complaints received by authorities about suspected drug dealing in the area. The arrest took place at around 8pm and involved DOPA special operations officers from Mueang Phuket District and territorial defence volunteers. Police officers were not involved in the operation, according to the information provided.

Authorities reported seizing the following items from the suspect:

  • 221 methamphetamine tablets, commonly known as yaba

  • 117.35 grams of crystal methamphetamine, known as ice

  • 122 ecstasy tablets

  • 3.15 grams of ketamine

  • 12 electronic cigarette cartridges containing ketamine

  • 13 electronic cigarettes

The suspect faces charges related to possession of methamphetamine and ecstasy with intent to sell, as well as similar allegations involving ketamine and cartridges containing the substance. Additional charges concern ketamine use, the circulation of electronic cigarettes and alleged violations of customs law.

Official photographs showed the detained man standing in front of a banner bearing the words “Operation 90 Days.” However, the anti-drug campaign had reportedly ended on September 30.

The suspect was pictured wearing a white shirt associated with the Phuket Vegetarian Festival. Although his age was not disclosed and his face was blurred in the images, the clothing linked the case visually to the ongoing festival period.

The report appears to place the arrest within the broader law-enforcement efforts taking place during the Vegetarian Festival. However, the available information does not establish that the suspect was officially connected to the festival or any youth-focused campaign.

The allegations remain subject to the legal process.
