Phuket Officials Debunk Viral Claim of Israelis “Taking Over” Public Beach

Authorities in Phuket have rejected viral claims suggesting that a group of Israeli tourists attempted to take control of a public beach and push away Thai visitors.

The provincial public relations office stated that, after coordinating with police and relevant agencies, no evidence was found to support the allegations. Officials confirmed that the beach remains fully public and accessible to everyone, in accordance with Thai law.

According to the investigation, the confusion appears to have originated from a situation in which foreign visitors were filming airplanes taking off and landing near the shoreline. To avoid disruptions during recording, they briefly asked people nearby not to walk into the camera frame.

Authorities emphasized that this request was purely practical and related to filming, not an attempt to assert ownership or restrict access to the beach. At no point did the tourists claim any rights over the area.

The case highlights how easily misunderstandings can spread online, particularly when they touch on sensitive topics such as public access and foreign presence. Officials urged the public to verify information before sharing it, stressing that beaches in Phuket remain open to both locals and visitors without restriction.
