Local authorities and police in Phuket carried out a late-night security operation in Chalong this week as part of ongoing efforts to combat drugs, illegal weapons and other criminal activity in the area.

An integrated checkpoint was established in Chalong, where officers stopped and inspected people and vehicles. The operation was aimed at detecting narcotics, weapons and other prohibited items while increasing security for residents and tourists.

During the checks, authorities detained several offenders and seized a number of items believed to be connected with illegal activities. The confiscated evidence included methamphetamine pills, crystal methamphetamine, short and long knives, and an axe.

Officials said the operation formed part of broader measures to prevent violence, disrupt drug trafficking and maintain public order in Phuket's tourist areas.

Authorities also stressed that regular checkpoints and coordinated patrols are intended not only to enforce the law but also to deter potential offenders and strengthen the sense of security among local residents and visitors.
