Phuket Authorities Increase Inspections of Patong Shooting Ranges

Phuket authorities have intensified inspections of shooting ranges in Patong as part of ongoing efforts to enforce safety standards and ensure businesses comply with Thai regulations.

The inspection campaign was led by Kathu District Chief Akkarapol Sutthirak Jitsupap, together with district officials, representatives from the Sports Authority of Thailand in Phuket, Patong Municipality, and other related agencies. The operation began at around 1 p.m. and covered four shooting facilities in the Patong area.

Officials inspected the following venues:

• Chiwawong Shooting Sports Association (Elephant Camp branch)

• Patong Beach Shooting Association

• Phuket Kathu Shooting Association

• Patong Phuket Shooting Association, which is currently closed due to legal proceedings

According to authorities, the first three venues provided all required registration documents issued by provincial regulators and possessed firearm licenses matching the weapons approved for use at their facilities.

Meanwhile, the fourth shooting range remains closed while legal action continues.

District officials emphasized that all operators and employees must strictly follow Thai laws and safety regulations. Authorities said the inspections are intended to ensure responsible business operations while maintaining safety standards for both local residents and tourists visiting Phuket.

The crackdown reflects broader efforts by Phuket authorities to strengthen oversight of tourism-related businesses and preserve the island’s reputation as a safe international destination.
