Phuket International Airport has responded to growing concerns over lengthy immigration queues and allegations that some passengers were being offered faster processing in exchange for unofficial payments.

In an official statement, airport authorities acknowledged complaints circulating on social media regarding waiting times at passport control and claims of extra charges for expedited immigration clearance. Officials emphasized that they take passenger feedback seriously and are working closely with immigration authorities to improve the overall travel experience.

According to the airport, several measures are being implemented to reduce congestion during peak travel periods. These include the introduction of automated passport control systems, the deployment of additional staff to assist with queue management, and enhanced coordination with airlines and relevant agencies to better distribute flight schedules throughout the day.

Airport management stressed that immigration procedures are conducted strictly according to official government regulations and standards. Authorities reiterated that there is no policy allowing passengers to pay additional fees in exchange for preferential treatment or faster processing at immigration checkpoints.

The statement noted that misunderstandings may arise during periods of heavy passenger traffic and warned that third parties could attempt to take advantage of travelers by spreading misleading information or offering unauthorized services. Reports related to such activities are currently being investigated.

Recognizing the importance of maintaining passenger confidence, Phuket Airport said it remains committed to upgrading its facilities and improving service quality despite increasing traveler numbers and physical limitations within the airport infrastructure.

Officials stated that their objective is to ensure a smooth, safe, and efficient arrival experience for both domestic and international passengers, while preserving Phuket’s reputation as one of Thailand’s leading tourism gateways.
