Over 1,500 Weight-Loss Pens Worth 5.5 Million Baht Seized in Wichit

Police in Phuket have seized more than 1,500 weight-loss pens and related products during a raid on a condominium unit in Wichit, with the total value of the seized items estimated at around 5.5 million baht.

The operation was carried out by investigators from Muang Phuket Police Station together with officials from the Phuket Provincial Public Health Office. Authorities began looking into the case after receiving complaints from customers who had purchased weight-loss pens online.

During the search, officers found a large quantity of weight-loss products and other related items. All of the seized goods were confiscated for further examination.

Authorities are now checking whether the products had received the required authorization from Thailand's Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Investigators will also determine whether any of the seized items could be counterfeit medicines.

Samples of the products will undergo laboratory testing to establish their composition and verify their registration and authorization status. The results will be used to determine whether criminal charges should be filed against those involved under relevant Thai laws.

Weight-loss pens classified as prescription medicines also cannot legally be sold or purchased without the required prescription.

The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities awaiting the laboratory results before deciding on further legal action.
