A confrontation on Bangla Road in Patong, Phuket, escalated into a violent altercation after a foreign woman reportedly provoked a group of Thai transwomen.
A video circulating online — without a confirmed date or time — shows a woman believed to be Russian arguing with several transwomen in the street. Dressed in a skirt with an elephant pattern, she appears to single out one individual wearing a pink mini dress.
According to the footage, the tourist shouted aggressively and mocked the transwoman, at one point shaking her body in a taunting manner. The person in the pink dress tried to disengage and leave, but the foreign woman continued to follow her.
Bystanders filming the incident can be heard saying that the transwoman typically avoids confrontation and only reacts when provoked.
Shortly afterward, the situation turned physical. The foreign woman struck the transwoman on the head, triggering a fight. The altercation quickly intensified as others joined in, leading to the foreign woman being knocked to the ground.
The video shows her being repeatedly hit, kicked, and having her hair pulled. At one moment, someone is seen using a shoe to strike her.

The violence subsided when a Thai man intervened. The foreign woman then stood up and left the scene.
Witnesses who later shared their accounts on Thai social media claimed the woman appeared heavily intoxicated and had been acting provocatively prior to the incident. They alleged she approached multiple men, hugging them and attempting to get free drinks at a nearby bar.
As of now, there have been no reports of formal complaints filed with the police by any of those involved. The exact cause of the altercation remains unclear.

A similar incident occurred earlier in Pattaya on March 7, where another foreign woman was assaulted on Walking Street. In that case, she had reportedly been arguing with her boyfriend when a group of Thai transwomen — seemingly unrelated to the dispute — intervened and attacked her.
Footage from the Pattaya incident also spread widely online, sparking calls from Thai social media users for authorities to investigate. Some commentators emphasized that tourists should not face such violence. However, the reasons behind that attack have also not been clarified.
