A mysterious marine animal carcass discovered on a beach in Phuket has prompted an investigation by environmental authorities seeking to identify the species and determine the cause of its death.

Officials from Sirinat National Park responded after receiving reports of unidentified remains washed ashore near a beachfront hotel in the Cherng Talay area.

According to Assistant Park Chief Karnikar Wongmit, park staff inspected the site and arranged for the carcass to be removed from the beach. The operation was carried out in cooperation with specialists from the Upper Andaman Marine and Coastal Resources Research Center (AMCRC).

Researchers collected biological samples from the remains and launched a detailed examination to establish what type of marine animal had been found and what factors may have contributed to its death.

Authorities said such investigations play an important role in monitoring the condition of local marine ecosystems. The findings can help experts detect emerging environmental threats and assess potential impacts on marine biodiversity in the Andaman region.

Further details are expected once laboratory analysis of the collected samples is completed.
