Myanmar National Arrested in Phuket for Working Illegally as Food Delivery Rider

Tourist Police in Phuket have arrested a Myanmar national accused of illegally working as a motorcycle food delivery rider during an operation targeting unauthorized foreign employment.

The arrest took place at approximately 2:10 p.m. on July 15 as part of an ongoing campaign to identify foreign nationals working in occupations that are restricted under Thai law.

According to police, the suspect was employed as a food delivery driver using a motorcycle, despite not having authorization to work in that occupation.

Authorities charged the man with working outside the scope of the employment rights granted to him, an offence under Thailand's Royal Decree on the Management of Foreign Workers (2017).

Tourist Police stated that food delivery services are among the occupations that foreign workers may not perform without the appropriate legal permissions.

Following the arrest, officers documented the case and transferred the suspect to investigators for further legal proceedings.

Police said inspections aimed at identifying illegal foreign employment will continue across Phuket as part of efforts to enforce labour regulations and ensure compliance with Thai immigration and employment laws.
