Authorities in Phuket have stepped up their campaign against unlicensed cannabis businesses, arresting a suspect and confiscating cannabis products worth more than 120,000 baht during an operation in Wichit.

According to provincial officials, investigators received information about a cannabis shop allegedly operating without the required licence. Officers first carried out a controlled purchase before conducting a raid on the premises.

A 22-year-old man was taken into custody during the operation.

Police seized 26 items, including approximately 266 grams of dried cannabis flower, 14 pre-rolled cannabis joints—including those purchased during the undercover operation—4.2 grams of cannabis extract, five electronic cannabis pods, and various accessories such as 201 rolling papers, a digital scale, trays and a grinder.

Authorities estimated the total value of the confiscated products at around 120,000 baht.

Officials said the cannabis extracts and electronic pods will undergo laboratory analysis to determine their chemical composition before investigators decide whether additional charges should be filed.

The suspect has been accused of selling and processing controlled herbal products for commercial purposes without authorization, in violation of Sections 46 and 78 of Thailand’s Thai Traditional Medicine Protection and Promotion Act (1999).

Following the arrest, both the suspect and the seized evidence were transferred to Wichit Police Station, where legal proceedings are continuing.
