Four Injured After Tourist EV Bus Crashes into Crane Truck in Phuket

A collision involving a tourist electric bus and a crane truck in Phuket Town left four people injured on June 9, prompting an ongoing police investigation into the cause of the accident.

The crash occurred at around 2:30 p.m. in the Talat Yai area of Mueang Phuket District. According to police, the crane truck had been parked along the roadside while work was being carried out. As an EV sightseeing bus carrying tourists passed the location, it struck the crane vehicle.

The impact caused part of the crane’s metal framework to fall onto a motorcycle traveling nearby. At the time of the incident, a worker was also positioned on the crane platform.

Four people suffered injuries and were transported to hospital. The injured included two passengers aboard the EV bus and two individuals riding the motorcycle. Among them were a Chinese tourist and a Philippine national.

Investigators documented the scene and collected evidence to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the collision.

Following the incident, Phuket City Municipality stated that the electric sightseeing bus is operated by Phuket City Development (PKCD) and is fully insured. Municipal officials confirmed that the Chinese tourist sustained only minor facial injuries and received treatment at Bangkok Hospital Phuket. She was later discharged, with doctors recommending a follow-up examination within two days.

Authorities said the tourist had shown understanding regarding the incident and had not filed any complaints. Representatives from PKCD and municipal tourism offices continue to provide assistance.

The accident comes shortly after another incident involving an electric passenger bus in Karon, where a vehicle reportedly lost power on a steep road, rolled backwards, and crashed into parked vehicles and a shop, leaving two passengers with minor injuries.
