Foreigner Escapes Unharmed After Ford Sedan Catches Fire in Phuket

A foreign driver escaped without injury after his Ford sedan caught fire in Phuket on July 4, with flames rapidly engulfing the vehicle on Phra Phuket Kaew Road in Kathu District.

Police at Kathu Police Station received a report of the incident at approximately 5:50 p.m. after emergency services were alerted to a vehicle fire at a U-turn on the inbound side of the road.

When officers arrived, they found a black Ford sedan already heavily damaged by fire. Firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading to nearby areas.

Initial observations indicated that the fire started in the engine compartment before spreading into the passenger cabin. By the time the flames were extinguished, most of the vehicle had been destroyed and it was no longer operable.

Police identified the driver as 28-year-old Rustem Eyuboglu. He managed to get out of the vehicle safely before the fire intensified.

Authorities confirmed that no one was injured or killed in the incident. The exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

Investigators documented the scene and coordinated with forensic specialists, who will examine the damaged vehicle to establish how the fire started. Police said the case will proceed in accordance with standard legal procedures once the investigation is completed.

The incident follows another recent vehicle fire in Phuket involving a foreign driver, whose Ford sedan was destroyed after catching fire late at night. Although the driver escaped, he suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to Bangkok Hospital Phuket for medical treatment.
