Fire Destroys Zodiac Bar Near Ao Yon Bay, Damage Estimated at Over 500,000 Baht

A major fire destroyed Zodiac Bar & Clubhouse near Ao Yon Bay on the afternoon of September 18. The venue was closed at the time, and there were no staff members or customers inside, so no injuries were reported.

Preliminary property damage has been estimated at more than 500,000 baht.

The fire broke out at the venue at the foot of Khao Khad hill along the road leading to Ao Yon Bay. Police and emergency services were alerted at around 11:56am.

By the time firefighters arrived, the building was already engulfed in flames. Strong winds contributed to the rapid spread of the fire, requiring more than 30 minutes for Wichit Municipality crews to bring it under control.

Zodiac Bar & Clubhouse normally opens at 3pm, meaning the venue was empty when the fire started. The building and property inside were completely destroyed.

One witness told police that shortly before the fire began, they noticed flashes coming from the direction of the venue that appeared to resemble an electrical short circuit. Flames then broke out and quickly spread through the structure.

An electrical malfunction or short circuit is being considered as the preliminary cause of the fire. However, authorities have not yet reached a final conclusion.

Forensic officers are examining the scene to determine the exact point where the fire started and establish its cause. The investigation remains ongoing.
