A fatal road accident in Phuket has left one motorcyclist dead and another injured after a foreign driver lost control of a pickup truck.

The incident occurred on March 25 in the Chalong area at around 5pm. According to reports, a foreign woman driving a blue pickup veered into the opposite lane and collided with two motorcycles.

Video footage circulating on Thai social media shows the vehicle suddenly sliding to the right before crashing into the riders. The pickup then struck a roadside electricity pole and came to a stop.

Casualties and immediate response
One Thai motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Another rider sustained serious injuries, including a broken leg, though further details about their identity have not been confirmed.
A foreign male passenger exited the vehicle shortly after the crash and helped the driver out. Witnesses reported that the two were seen arguing on the roadside.
Bystanders quickly stopped to assist, contacting emergency responders and police.
Investigation ongoing
Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved, and the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
The incident has sparked widespread discussion online, with some social media users questioning whether justice will be served. Concerns were raised about the possibility of foreign suspects attempting to resolve such cases through financial settlements or leaving the country before legal proceedings are completed.
Others called for stricter measures to address reckless driving among foreign motorists in Phuket, referencing previous incidents involving similar circumstances.

One such case occurred in February, when a foreign driver struck multiple motorcycles and fled the scene. Despite attempts by a bystander to stop the vehicle, the driver escaped, and no updates on legal action have been reported.
