Diesel Prices Drop Below 38 Baht per Litre in Phuket for the First Time Since March

Fuel prices in Phuket have continued to decline, with diesel falling below 38 baht per litre for the first time in more than three months.

According to the Phuket office of Thailand’s Ministry of Energy, the latest price adjustment took effect on June 19 after major fuel retailers revised rates in response to more stable global oil prices.

Gasohol prices also decreased. Gasohol 91 is now selling for less than 39 baht per litre, while Gasohol 95 has dropped below the 40-baht mark for the first time since March.

• Diesel – 37.99 baht/litre

• Premium Diesel – 54.74 baht/litre

• Gasohol 91 – 38.97 baht/litre

• Gasohol 95 – 39.34 baht/litre

• Gasohol E20 – 34.34 baht/litre

• Gasohol E85 – 30.28 baht/litre

• Gasoline – 48.93 baht/litre

Thailand began raising retail fuel prices on March 18 after global oil prices climbed following heightened tensions in the Middle East. As market pressures intensified, the government abandoned its long-standing policy of keeping diesel prices at around 30 baht per litre.

During the sharpest phase of the increase, the national benchmark diesel price rose from 29.94 baht per litre on March 10 to 50.54 baht per litre by April 5. Since then, prices have gradually moved lower, although the decline has been considerably slower than the earlier surge.

The figures of 29.94 and 50.54 baht represent the national benchmark prices used by Thailand’s Ministry of Energy. Fuel prices in Phuket are typically around 0.49 baht per litre higher than those in Bangkok.

Earlier this year, Phuket MP Chalermpong Saengdee suggested that some parties may have benefited from the spike in fuel prices. However, no official findings or enforcement actions related to those claims have been announced.
