Chinese Tourist Dies After Being Found Unresponsive in Phuket Hotel Pool

A Chinese tourist has died after being discovered unconscious in the swimming pool of a hotel in Phuket on August 17. Despite immediate rescue efforts and emergency medical treatment, doctors were unable to save his life.

The deceased, identified as 44-year-old Ye, had arrived in Phuket with his family and was staying at a hotel from August 16 to 22.

According to preliminary information, Ye entered the hotel’s swimming pool, which was about two metres deep. At one point, his daughter noticed that he appeared motionless in the water and quickly alerted people nearby.

Several foreign tourists who were using the pool responded immediately. They pulled Ye from the water and began performing CPR while emergency services were contacted.

The man was transported to Patong Hospital, where medical staff continued resuscitation efforts. However, doctors later confirmed his death at approximately 11:30 a.m.

Following the incident, Patong Police were notified and launched an investigation. Officers visited both the hospital and the hotel to gather information, document the scene and collect evidence related to the case.

The body was subsequently transferred to the forensic department of Vajira Phuket Hospital, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

Authorities have also coordinated with the Chinese Embassy in Thailand to ensure that all necessary procedures concerning the deceased are carried out properly.

Police stated that the circumstances surrounding the death remain under investigation pending the results of the forensic examination.

The incident follows several similar cases reported in Thailand this year, including the deaths of foreign tourists in swimming pools in Phuket and Pattaya.
