Chiang Mai Woman Killed After Crashing Into Parked Truck in Phuket

Police in Phuket are investigating a fatal road accident that occurred late at night on May 24 along the province’s main highway. A woman from Chiang Mai died after crashing her motorcycle into a parked truck.

According to a police report, officers from Thalang Police Station received notification of the accident at approximately 2:30 a.m. near a 7-Eleven convenience store opposite the Srisoonthorn Municipality office.

By the time police and rescue workers arrived at the scene, the motorcyclist, 31-year-old Patimakan Kaeudi, had already died from severe head injuries.

Truck driver Chatri Sadjo told police he had been driving from Phuket to Krabi and stopped along the side of Thepkrasattri Road to visit the nearby 7-Eleven store.

The report states that the truck’s hazard and parking lights had been left on, which was reportedly confirmed by photographs taken at the scene. At the moment of the collision, the 57-year-old driver was inside the convenience store.

Police also confirmed that the truck driver was tested for alcohol consumption, with the result coming back negative.

Authorities have not yet determined whether the motorcyclist had consumed alcohol before the crash. Police said medical personnel would establish this as part of the investigation.

It also remains unclear whether the victim was wearing a protective helmet at the time of the accident. Photographs from the scene reportedly showed a helmet lying near the body, though no visible damage was observed on its front side.

The death has not yet been added to the official ThaiRSC road fatality statistics. According to the latest available data, Phuket province has recorded 64 road deaths since the beginning of the year, including six fatalities in Srisoonthorn subdistrict.
