CCTV Captures Foreign Suspects Stealing Guitar in Phuket

A young man in Phuket has turned to social media for help after his guitar was stolen by two foreign men in the early hours of April 23.

The victim, 19-year-old Kasidit, shared CCTV footage of the incident, which occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Thai Na Road in Karon. He hopes the video will help identify the suspects and lead to the return of his instrument.

According to the footage, the two men were walking along the sidewalk before stopping near parked motorcycles. One of them sat on a bike, while the other picked up a guitar that had been left on a nearby motorcycle. After briefly playing it, the pair left the area with the instrument.

Kasidit explained that he had just finished work and stopped to meet a friend nearby. He parked his motorcycle and left the guitar on it, returning only minutes later to discover it had disappeared.

The theft was reported to local police, who have launched an investigation. So far, no official information has been released regarding the identities of the suspects. The value of the stolen guitar has not been disclosed.

The case has sparked discussion online, with some Thai social media users calling for stricter enforcement against crimes involving foreign nationals. Others linked the incident to broader debates over visa policies, including proposals to shorten visa-free stays and tighten entry requirements.

Recent weeks have seen similar reports involving foreign suspects in southern Thailand, including thefts in Krabi province. Authorities have not confirmed whether these incidents are connected.
