British Tourist Found Deceased in Phuket Hotel Room

A 41-year-old British traveler, Zakir Mahood, was discovered deceased in his Patong hotel room on his scheduled departure date. The discovery occurred after hotel personnel entered the room, where a "Do Not Disturb" sign had been displayed continuously for several days.

Mahood had been residing in the accommodation independently since July 24 and was set to check out on August 3. According to hotel employees, housekeepers last serviced the room on July 27, after which the guest displayed the "Do Not Disturb" sign. Around 11:00 AM on August 3, the head of housekeeping attempted to contact the guest. Receiving no answer, staff unlocked the door and discovered Mahood's body.

Preliminary investigations revealed no indicators of forced entry, missing property, or physical conflict inside the premises. Medical examiners estimated that death occurred approximately 12 to 24 hours prior to discovery. An official cause of death remains pending full post-mortem results. His body was relocated to Vachira Phuket Hospital for an autopsy, and the British Embassy was contacted to inform his family and coordinate procedures.

This incident follows a separate event in the area where a 69-year-old Australian traveler was also found deceased in his hotel bathroom shortly after arriving for a extended vacation. Authorities noted no signs of foul play or structural damage in that instance either, attributing the death to natural causes pending formal confirmation.
