British Tenant Accused of Causing Extensive Damage to Phuket Luxury Villa

A luxury villa owner in Phuket has reported significant property damage allegedly caused by a British tenant, with estimated losses exceeding 300,000 baht.

Speaking to Mati Press Online on June 7, Nattakan Hankeaw, who represents the property owner, said the damage was discovered at a villa in Rawai, located in Phuket’s Mueang district. The property belongs to Talaticha Loney and had been rented to British national Farah Hashi since March.

According to Nattakan, an inspection conducted on June 4 found the villa in good condition. However, during a follow-up visit two days later, staff discovered extensive damage affecting multiple areas of the property.

She stated that CCTV footage recorded at approximately 8pm on June 4 appears to show the tenant damaging items inside the villa. Details of the actions captured on camera were not disclosed in the media report.

Inspectors also found equipment believed to be used for inhaling nitrous oxide, commonly referred to as laughing gas. Authorities have not yet determined whether the items are connected to the alleged incident, and further investigation is underway.

The villa owner has filed an official complaint with Chalong Police and provided evidence to support the case. Investigators are currently reviewing the material and collecting additional information before deciding whether criminal charges will be pursued.

Under Section 358 of Thailand’s Criminal Code, intentional damage to another person’s property can result in a prison sentence of up to three years, a fine of up to 60,000 baht, or both.

At the time of publication, police had not announced any formal charges against the tenant.

The case follows another incident involving a British national in Phuket reported in May, when a man allegedly damaged several motorcycles and vandalized a local food shop sign with a knife.
