A British man has alleged that he was seriously assaulted, restrained and forced to transfer cryptocurrency during an incident involving two Polish men and a close friend at a condominium in Phuket.

The incident reportedly took place at around 11pm on September 29 at a condominium in the Chalong area. The man later shared his account publicly, and the case was reported on October 6.

According to his account, the British man drove from Kamala to Chalong to meet a childhood friend. He went to a fourth-floor room where he found his friend with two Polish men who were already drinking.

The man said he drank only one glass of whisky because he planned to drive home. He reportedly declined when the two Polish men encouraged him to continue drinking.

He alleged that the situation then turned violent, with the two men attacking him, strangling him with a cable tie and attempting to prevent him from leaving the room.

The British man said he asked his friend for help, but the friend allegedly refused and told him to comply with the Polish men’s instructions.

According to the account, he managed to get towards the exit but was pulled back into the room. He then alleged that the men threatened him with pruning shears and forced him to make a cryptocurrency transfer.

The amount transferred was reportedly relatively small, which the man said further angered the two Polish men.

He said he eventually decided that his only way to escape was to jump from the fourth-floor balcony. The fall allegedly caused additional injuries, and he said he has since been unable to walk.

A condominium security guard reportedly found the injured man and came to his assistance.

The supplied report did not confirm whether the British man had formally reported the alleged assault, attempted cryptocurrency theft or other offences to Phuket police.

No further information about a police investigation, arrests or charges was available at the time of reporting.
