A fire broke out at a marine facility in Phuket on April 28, involving boats at a shipyard in the Mai Khao area. The incident received little public attention, largely because it occurred in a non-residential zone.

According to the Phuket Provincial Administrative Organization (PPAO), the blaze started at around 4:00 p.m., although an official statement was only released later in the evening, after 8:00 p.m.

Firefighting operations were carried out by personnel from the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), based in Thalang District. Authorities did not specify which response unit was deployed.

The site of the incident was identified as a ship repair area referred to as “Play Yard.” While images shared by officials did not clearly show the main complex, several nearby boatyards are known to operate in the vicinity.

Officials confirmed that the fire was successfully contained and no injuries were reported. However, details regarding the scale of the damage, the cause of the fire, and the number of boats affected have not yet been disclosed.
