Virgin Atlantic Launches First Direct Flights Between London and Phuket
Virgin Atlantic has launched its first route to Thailand, introducing direct seasonal flights between London Heathrow and Phuket on October 18, just as the island enters its high tourism season.

The airline marked the inaugural service in a post on its official Facebook page. Photographs showed crew members holding Thai flags alongside performers wearing traditional Thai khon costumes.
The new route operates three times a week. Flights from London depart on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, while services from Phuket leave on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the seasonal route is scheduled to operate until March 26, 2027.
The flights carry the numbers VS214 from London to Phuket and VS215 for the return journey. The inaugural service departed Heathrow on October 18 and arrived in Phuket the following morning.
According to the published timetable, flights leave London at 3:45pm and arrive in Phuket at 9:55am the next day. Return services depart Phuket at 11:45am and reach Heathrow at 7:25pm. The outbound journey takes approximately 12 hours and 10 minutes, while the return flight lasts around 13 hours and 40 minutes.

Boeing 787-9 aircraft and onboard services
Virgin Atlantic operates the route with a Boeing 787-9 configured to accommodate 258 passengers across three cabins: 31 seats in Upper Class, 35 in Premium and 192 in Economy.
Passengers have access to onboard meals, drinks and entertainment, as well as Wi-Fi.
The current cabin layout may change under the airline’s planned refurbishment programme for its Boeing 787-9 fleet. Boeing has announced a redesigned configuration featuring 44 Upper Class seats, 56 Premium seats and 127 Economy seats. The proposed layout would increase the number of seats in the premium cabins.

More international routes to Thailand
Virgin Atlantic’s launch comes amid the introduction of several new international connections to Thailand.
Chinese carrier Lucky Air began direct flights between Kunming and Udon Thani in August, operating twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
In September, Saudi Arabian airline Riyadh Air introduced a direct route to Bangkok, with three flights a week.
Earlier in October, LOT Polish Airlines launched direct flights between Warsaw and Bangkok. The service operated three times a week from October 7 to 25, with frequency scheduled to increase to five flights a week from October 26 for Thailand’s high season.
The new London–Phuket connection gives international travellers another direct option for reaching the island during the busy winter tourism period.
