Phuket’s Chartered Bear Returns to Old Town Ahead of Vegetarian Festival

Phuket’s beloved bear mascot has returned to Phuket Old Town ahead of this year’s Vegetarian Festival, appearing in a new white outfit at the Chartered Intersection.

The bear, affectionately known by locals as Nong Mee, was installed near the old police station as part of Phuket Town Municipality’s preparations for the upcoming festival.

The mascot was created at the initiative of Phuket Town Municipality and quickly became popular with residents and visitors. It was later officially registered under the name Chartered Bear.

Festival decorations are still being installed around Phuket Town, but the municipality has already invited residents and visitors to explore the area and take photos with the returning mascot. Visitors are advised to keep an eye on the weather, which can remain unpredictable at this time of year.

This year’s official Vegetarian Festival will take place from October 10 to 18.
