Phuket reinforced its reputation as an inclusive international destination with the opening of the Phuket Pride Festival 2026 on June 7. The celebration began with a vibrant parade through Patong, bringing together residents, tourists, and members of the LGBTQIAN+ community in support of equality, diversity, and human rights.

The procession was led by Acting Phuket Provincial Chief Administration Officer Naphat Em-on, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security Advisor Anekchai Rueangrattanakorn, and Patong Mayor Lalita Maneesri. Thousands of participants and spectators gathered along the route, highlighting a shared commitment to respect, dignity, and social inclusion.

Marchers made their way along Patong Beach Road before continuing onto Bangla Road, turning one of Phuket’s most popular tourism districts into a colorful showcase of acceptance and unity. Provincial officials noted that the event reflects Phuket’s ongoing efforts to promote fairness and strengthen its image as a welcoming destination for people of all backgrounds, cultures, religions, and gender identities.

Held under the slogan “Be Loud, Be Proud, Be You,” the festival plays an important role in advancing awareness of human rights and diversity at the local level. Organizers and government representatives stated that the annual event also supports Phuket’s ambition to strengthen its role within the global Pride City Network while encouraging long-term social progress and inclusive economic development.
