Phuket has officially launched the 11th Phuket Lobster Festival, inviting visitors to enjoy special lobster-inspired menus and exclusive promotions at restaurants across the island throughout August.

The festival opened on July 31 in Chalong during the Hlong Long Do Fair and the Chalong Agricultural Festival. The month-long culinary celebration will continue until August 31.
This year's theme, "From GI to Global Gastronomy," highlights Phuket’s famous seven-colored lobster, a product recognized in Thailand with Geographical Indication (GI) status, emphasizing its unique local origin and premium quality.
In Thailand, the term "lobster" is commonly used for several species of large spiny lobsters found in the Andaman Sea. The Phuket seven-colored lobster remains the island’s signature variety and is widely featured in both traditional and contemporary cuisine.

Participating restaurants will showcase the local delicacy in a variety of dishes, including sashimi, grilled lobster, Lobster Thermidor, Pad Thai, and modern fusion creations. The popular surf-and-turf combination, pairing lobster with premium beef steak, is also expected to remain a customer favorite.
Beyond promoting local cuisine, the festival is designed to strengthen the Phuket Lobster brand and position it as an internationally recognized premium seafood product. According to PR Phuket, seven government agencies, educational institutions, and tourism organizations have joined forces to support the initiative.
The festival has already received nationwide media attention, with Thailand’s major television networks featuring the event during its opening days.
Organizers expect more than 30,000 visitors to dine at participating restaurants during the festival, generating at least 200 million baht for the local economy.
