Phuket’s tourism industry recorded more than 329 million baht in revenue during Thailand’s recent three-day public holiday, driven by strong domestic travel and a series of cultural celebrations across the island.

The holiday period, held from July 28 to 30, marked the birthday of His Majesty King Rama X, as well as the Buddhist holidays Asalha Bucha and Khao Phansa (Buddhist Lent).

According to Sirivan Siharach, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Phuket Office, hotel occupancy averaged 60.79% throughout the province. The estimate was based on a survey covering around 30% of accommodation providers in Phuket’s main tourism areas.

During the three-day break, Phuket welcomed 62,211 domestic visitors, who stayed on the island for an average of 2.02 nights. Average spending reached 5,453.76 baht per person per day, generating an estimated 329.73 million baht for the local economy.

Alongside tourism, the island also hosted a number of religious and cultural activities to mark the Buddhist holidays.

On July 29 and 30, Wat Khao Rang Samakkhitham organized merit-making ceremonies that included Buddhist chanting, religious sermons, candle-lighting rituals, and offerings of candles and monks' robes for the annual rainy season retreat.

At the same time, Chalong Municipality staged its traditional Buddhist Lent Candle Festival, featuring candle-making demonstrations, blessing ceremonies, and processions delivering ceremonial candles to local temples, including Wat Chalong, Wat Latthiwanaram, and Wat Sirisilasupharam.
