A community charity run held on May 1 in Phuket has successfully raised 150,000 baht to support Chalong Hospital. The funds will be used to purchase new medical equipment and upgrade the hospital’s operating room in the near future.

The event, known as May Day Run 2026, took place early in the morning at Bang Wad Reservoir in Kathu, a popular spot among local running enthusiasts. The location is also set to host an upcoming stage of a regional running series organized by provincial authorities.

This year’s run was organized by the provincial office of the Ministry of Labour, with support from local officials and community partners. Phuket’s administration was represented by Deputy Governor Teerapong Chuaychu, while Chalong Hospital was represented by its deputy director.

Organizers highlighted that the event was made possible through cooperation across different sectors. Businesses and sponsors contributed by funding the event, providing prizes, and supporting participants. Rewards included hotel stay vouchers, dining experiences, entertainment tickets, and various gift items.

Hospital representatives expressed their appreciation to everyone involved, noting that the initiative reflects strong community spirit and direct support for local healthcare. Although the exact number of participants was not disclosed, several hundred people, including both adults and children, gathered at the reservoir to take part in the run.
