Continuous heavy rain in Patong triggered a landslide and rockfall that blocked Soi Na Nai 3 on Wednesday, disrupting traffic and prompting local authorities to order the evacuation of residents from high-risk areas.

Patong Mayor Lalita Maneesri said municipal officials and personnel from several agencies had been deployed to help residents in affected areas.

People living in vulnerable locations were instructed to evacuate immediately and move to designated shelters. Shuttle vehicles were positioned at Soi Na Nai 3 and Soi Na Nai 8 to transport residents who needed assistance leaving the area.

The municipality also arranged safe parking areas for private cars and larger vehicles, allowing residents to move their vehicles away from potentially dangerous locations.

Mayor Maneesri urged people in the affected zones to leave without delay and follow instructions from emergency personnel.

Authorities monitor high-risk areas

Conditions remain particularly concerning in Soi Na Nai 8. Municipal staff, volunteers and forestry officers have been sent to the area to assist residents and monitor safety conditions.

Authorities have advised the public to avoid Soi Na Nai 3, which remains closed because of the landslide and falling rocks. Residents and visitors should also keep away from other locations vulnerable to further landslides or flash flooding.

The municipality has urged people to follow official announcements closely and make personal safety their highest priority while the situation is being assessed.
