Her Majesty Queen Suthida is scheduled to visit Phuket on November 11 to attend the opening ceremony of the Global Wellness Summit 2026. The international event will take place from November 10 to 13 at Angsana Laguna Phuket, within the Laguna Phuket resort complex.

Preparations for the royal visit are already underway. An organisational meeting was held at the hotel on October 27, chaired by Air Chief Marshal Phakdi Saengchuto, Assistant Principal Private Secretary to His Majesty the King. Phuket Vice Governor Romdon Hai-Awae was among the senior provincial officials attending.

The preparations cover security arrangements, transport logistics, ceremony planning and coordination between government agencies. Officials also inspected the summit venue and exhibition areas planned for displays on traditional Thai medicine, medicinal herbs and the wellness industry.

Phuket to host the summit for the first time

The Global Wellness Summit will be held in Thailand for the first time, with Phuket hosting its 20th annual edition. The event brings together international business leaders, investors, scientists, healthcare professionals and government representatives.

Organisers expect more than 600 delegates from over 30 countries to attend.

This year's theme is “The Science, Art and Soul of Wellness.” The programme will explore medical and wellness technologies, disease prevention, healthy ageing, mental health, hospitality and property development focused on wellbeing.

The summit will also feature the launch of the Global Wellness Economy Monitor 2026, a report examining developments in the global wellness economy.

Opportunity to strengthen Phuket's wellness sector

Provincial authorities see the summit as an opportunity to raise Phuket's profile as an international wellness tourism destination and attract investment in healthcare services, hospitality and residential property.

The programme is expected to include visits to established and developing wellness projects across the island. These include Clinique La Prairie Health Resort at the Tri Vananda development.

Queen Suthida is known for her participation in sporting activities and support for physical fitness. Summit organisers have highlighted her personal interest in health, wellness and an active lifestyle.

Global Wellness Summit Chair and CEO Susie Ellis welcomed the Queen's planned attendance, describing it as a significant honour for the event's 20th edition.

She said the Queen's commitment to health, wellness and sport was an inspiration to the international wellness community and that her presence would make the summit a particularly memorable occasion for participants.
