The seaside community of Laem Sai in Thalang turned into a lively gathering point as the annual “Sit by the Sea, Watch Planes, Enjoy Local Delights @ Laem Sai” festival successfully took place. The event, hosted at Laem Sai Pier, was officially inaugurated by Deputy Governor Suwit Phansengiam together with local officials and residents.

Running from April 24 to 25, the festival marked its fifth year and was organized by the Thepkrasattri Subdistrict Administrative Organization. The initiative focuses on supporting grassroots economic development by promoting local culture, natural assets, and community strengths.

Laem Sai stands out as a traditional fishing village known for sea bass farming and picturesque coastal scenery. It also offers a rare experience where visitors can watch airplanes flying low overhead, making it a unique attraction for tourists.
More than 50 vendors and local entrepreneurs participated, presenting a variety of regional dishes, fresh seafood, and handmade products. Cultural performances and live entertainment contributed to the festive atmosphere, attracting both locals and visitors.

According to organizers, the event goes beyond entertainment. It serves as a practical tool to stimulate local business activity, generate income for farmers and small enterprises, and strengthen the tourism ecosystem in the area.
Community involvement plays a key role in the festival’s success, helping preserve traditions while building local pride. At the same time, it supports long-term economic sustainability.
With its scenic setting and distinctive identity, Laem Sai is being positioned as a promising destination for community-based tourism in Phuket. Officials expect the festival to increase visibility, attract more visitors, and improve livelihoods through sustainable growth.
